As the ship docked, and they stepped onto American soil the Person siblings knew the journey ahead would be challenging, but they were ready to face it together. With the memory of that first breathtaking sight of the Statue of Liberty etched in their minds, they carried with them the strength of their Swedish heritage and the boundless hope of their American dreams.
They carried with them the strength of their Swedish heritage and the boundless hope of their American dreams.

Their story was one of adventure, resilience, and the unbreakable bond between siblings. It was a tale of new beginnings and enduring traditions, a legacy of love and perseverance that would inspire generations to come. Including mine.

Why ASI?
My wife and I love our Swedish heritage. We love everything Nordic. Our first born is named Bjorn for a reason. The American Swedish Institute is a favorite pastime of ours. We even signed up for the ASI membership raffle at the Mall of America charity event out of the many prizes they had there. Fingers crossed we win!
I am trying to pivot to the non-profit Museum or Zoo space from the corporate world. This position is exactly what I want. I am willing to step down as CEO to Pivot, even if it means a pay cut. Entertaining, educating, changing lives, that’s what I am about. If you do what you love, you never work a day in your life. I never want to work another day in my life.
Full honesty and I hope this isn’t a deal breaker… but I don’t drink coffee. I love Fika, but it’s with tea for me.
Someone wiser than me painted a great picture that I can’t help but get excited for:
The American Swedish Institute will be a leading museum and cultural center that invites all people to connect their pasts to their shared future, to understand their heritage in relation to others and to discover their role as neighbors and global citizens. Vibrant, ongoing ties to Sweden will illuminate and inspire all these endeavors.
Why Me?
I am a marketing person. I love telling stories. Stories are the best form of marketing as they elicit an emotional response on a deeper level. We don’t sell software in my company. We sell a happier future. I have also created content for the Cafesjian Carousel (business to consumer marketing), StudioPlus Software (business to business marketing), and my local church to name a few. I believe in a multi-channel approach to reaching our audience. Since I am very tech savvy, I know how to use software to streamline that process. Work smarter, not harder.
I have led a company. I understand all the ins and outs of business. It makes me a better team player.
I believe in giving back. My Marketing Director position for Cafesjian’s Carousel is completely unpaid. I also volunteer at Como Zoo. I counsel small businesses on how to be better marketers and lead their teams better. My favorite is a small family-owned egg farm in Morris, Illinois.
I am a strategy person. I love laying out my Marketing 5 year vision, 3 year vision, and 1 year vision as well as incremental goals and action steps to achieve them.
I am a team leader. I love investing in and empowering my team to be the best they can be. I will champion diversity and inclusion.
I am a data person. Decisions need to be made on good data. I have created a powerful PowerBI report to run StudioPlus Software. Data drives my marketing choices. I usually create two different styled marketing pieces for big campaigns. I test the two on 20% of the audience. Then rollout the winner to the remaining 80%.
I have implemented marketing software and counseled hundreds of photography studios on marketing. It’s what our company does, and I am very good at it.
I am constantly growing and seeking new ideas. I am always reading business books and monitoring marketing trends to stay ahead. If you can’t tell from my “cover letter” and website, I love trying new innovative ideas. I have created a new Como Events page for the carousel designed to help us fulfill our goal of being a top 3 visitor destination in Como Park. A very unique form of value marketing.
